Songwriting Year

In the fall of last year, I was invited to take part in a "songwriter's lock-in" to brainstorm and write some new Christmas classics to pitch for Hallmark's epic 36 holiday movies. While none of our songs was ultimately chosen, my love of songwriting was re-kindled, and I felt that 2019 would be a year of building my songwriting skills and portfolio up to a higher level.

As usual, things like illnesses, vacations, and just plain old being a stay at home mom got in the way of the my prolific ambitions, but I have managed to write my first new songs in several years, record them, and even release a couple. (OK, one, but two more are on their way before the end of the year.)

I realized that although I'm a perfectionist, sometimes quantity is more desirable that quality, at least if I'm trying to build a catalog, and really if I'm aiming for great songs, I'm have to write a whole bunch of mediocre or crappy songs to get there.

Anyways, there is one quarter left of 2019, my son is going back to preschool part time, and I'm trying to squeeze the most time I can out of my days to put towards songwriting and recording.
