Siren Sessions

Updated: Aug 20, 2019

This year, 2019, is the year of pushing myself out of my comfort zone... or maybe not my comfort zone, because I haven't been comfortable... but familiar, safe, maybe. I never thought that at my age and size that I'd be doing modeling for a body positive clothing line, or signing up to don a crown of flowers and posing for photos, or getting a check in the mail because my music was on T.V.

But this year was the year I decided stop saying no to things that I KNOW I'm capable of. I've hung back out of the spotlight, waiting for permission, the right look, the right skills. This is the year I give myself permission. To step into whatever it is I want to do--- and if I fail? At least I won't regret having tried!

After being photographed in January of this year for The Long Tank Co's launch, the same photographer was raising funds to mat and frame a new series for showing this summer. She was providing people like me an opportunity to wear beautiful jewelry, get professional hair and makeup done, and wear intricate and exotic floral neck and headpieces.

I drove up to Santa Clarita one Sunday, leaving at 11 AM to my hair appointment at 1pm, for my photoshoot at 5 pm. It was a long haul, but the drive was so beautiful, as I actually drove into the yellow hills of the Angeles National Forest, along hairpin turns and narrow roads, to the photographer's in home shoot.

What a beautiful experience it was.

I've included some of the photos here so you can see what a good time we had. You can see more photos by following my Instagram @adriannesoundslike
